The
number one reason people put off visits to the dentist is fear---fear
of pain or fear of complicated procedures they don't really understand.
Dr. Salisbury and the rest of our staff want your time with us to be comfortable,
positive, and free of tension and misinformation. To be better informed,
we offer answers to the most frequently asked questions we've received
over the years. Of course, you may call our office at any time if you
have more questions. We'd love to talk to you!
How does Dr. Salisbury keep up-to-date on all of the
current techniques and materials?
Dr. Salisbury is an advocate in continuing education. He is a Fellow
of the Academy of General
Dentistry and the American
Academy of Implant Dentistry, which means he has accumulated hundreds
of hours continuing his education beyond dental school. He attends courses
and lectures on the latest techniques in dentistry, so he can provide
you with the best up-to-date service.

Can you show me what my smile can look like ahead of
time?
Of course we can. After we determine which treatment plan you'd like
to follow, we provide a "mock" treatment. We take temporary
material and put it on your teeth to show you what the end result will
look like. This gives you a chance to see your smile in the mirror and
talk about it at home or work to your family and friends.

Do you accept referrals?
Yes we do. To us, referring a family member or friend to our dental practice
is the highest compliment you can give us. Thank you! We always look forward
to providing the same excellent care and service to people you know.

Do you accept my insurance plan?
We currently file insurance claims
for our patients and file an appeal for inappropriate insurance denials
when insurance companies deny claims unnecessarily.

What do I do if I have an emergency when the office
is closed?
When you call our regular office number, you'll hear the emergency number
you need to dial. Once you call that number, you will be paging the doctor
who will get back to you right away.

How can I have whiter teeth?
Most whitening methods are considered safe today, especially if performed
under the supervision of a dentist. We offer an in-office Rembrandt
procedure that works fast and provides dramatic results---up to nine shades
lighter. If you've been feeling embarrassed about the color of your teeth,
it's time to talk about our whitening procedure. Try it.

What makes you different than any other dental practice
I can visit?
Dr. Salisbury has more than two decades of experience in treating dental
patients and providing them with dazzling smiles. He is also continuously
furthering his education by attending courses to learn even more about
his favorite subject--dentistry! You will also be hard-pressed to find
a more enthusiastic and dedicated staff; one that is actually fun to be
around.

Is it bad if my gums bleed after I brush my teeth?
Yes it is. Bleeding is not a sign of optimal oral health. In fact, it's
a sign of infection in the gums or perhaps even in the bone. Our goal
is keeping your teeth healthy for a lifetime. That's why we have instituted
non-surgical periodontal treatment to help you achieve this.

Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and partials
where
can I learn more about what you guys are talking about?
Since you're so adept at navigating our website, we'd suggest you visit
the American Dental Association's website at www.ada.org,
where you can find out a great deal about these procedures and many more.
Otherwise, come into our office, and we'd be happy to show you detailed
videotapes or computer programs on these procedures and many others. And
of course, you're more than welcome to talk to us about them. We love
talking about the latest dental procedures to our patients. Just ask!

I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want
to wear braces, what can you do to help?
Braces aren't the only cure for crooked teeth anymore, especially for
adults. For many adult patients, porcelain veneers can do wonders. The
placement of porcelain veneers is a procedure that might take only two
or three visits with instantaneous results, versus braces, which might
take about two years to provide comparable results.
